Same. I use a static stripped profile directory including ublock and YT shorts blocker. It has no problems with this. Still, it's commercial garbage conditioned for advertising and tracking, preferably out of sight.

What a pity... I don't like it also, but for different reasons. Once out cut your teeth on something like the M68K and progressed to three address machines like ppc or mips, x86 feels simply unelegant and looks like some cave painting.

"pkg set -p -n py311-:py312- && pkg upgrade". This may fail if you have a mix of 311 and 312 pkgs and will require a few iterations (including using "pkg check -d" etc.). But you should really keep an eye on /usr/ports/UPDATING!
