I've had the Brother multifunction MFC-L3780CDW for a few years now and though I don't use it often, it works well. At one point, I had a color inkjet HP and monotone Brother laser when I had more need for both. Brother's always served me well. I...

Not so simple. The question is, if there were Germans in the year 0 or only Germanic tribes, mainly divided in: Rhein-Weser Germanenen (eg. Franken), Nordsee-Germanen (eg. Frisians, Saxons, Angels), Elb-Germanen (the wildest according to the...

Postscript is a wonderful high level programming language, PCL low level, I doubt it is usable to write programs by hand. Postscript printers process it inside the printer. The first postscript printer, made by apple, had a more powerful...

Maybe we should do away with countries at some point and just accept that we are one world? That would put a lot of grifters out of a job, that's why it will not happen. Which is sad.

Such "clever bits" are usually like a double edged sword. Some time they are just right but you really have to know your stuff.... Incidentally siglongjmp() is preferable to longjmp(). I remember struggling hard to make this work correctly when...

what's your point ? I doubt it's an issue with those simple examples... every simple OpenCL test I built and tested causes a GPU hang. I also tried the Khronos OpenCL examples from the SDK, they all hang in the same manner for me.

Weren't Postscript printers more expensive? As they were identical to another printer, but had an added letter to some they were Postscript, for using licensing rights. Postscript printers are required for older Apple though. But PCL is a more...

I wouldn't have thought of Muir first, either, (though I was thinking USA, not just CA). And no, I never realized the flugle horn is a tuba--I always though of it as a sort of trumpet, or maybe French horn. I think it was used in the Who's...

Agreed, (stops to add a like to hruodr's post). I've avoided HP for many years now, and I'm sure, that like any other vendor specific program, they add a lot of unneeded cruft.

Technically it is allowed to use longjmp from a signal handler. But in practice you leak all kinds of resources. Doing it from a segfault handler (when you don't use segfaults on purpose) is a bit adventurous.

Afaik, it's charachters 128 to 255. 219 is a full vertical rectangle. 196 is a horitzontal line from start to end. You can make primitive text-interfaces with this. In MS-DOS times this even worked on the CLI using alt-### combinations. I think...
