Doing anything with ports: First take sure that it is up to date. As long that's not the case there's nothing to do inside the ports tree.
Won't work. To uninstall via make the port name isn't needed - it uses the port of the actual directory...
Yes, I'm writing my own tool. What I'd like to do is to use everything the ports infrastructure already provides and nothing more (at least this is my intention). What is confusing me is the directory used by the packages and all the possible...
Btw, I decided to search for the conflicts individually instead, and for the first one (mozjpeg conflicts with jpeg-turbo), I already found some threads: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=251185
Issue is that it is 5 years old...
You should have kinda configuration to store resulting pkg into /usr/ports/packages/All/, at least building pkg on single port directory.
By default, pkg is created under ${WRKDIR}/pkg/, for example with x11/nvidia-kmod...
Hey, thank you so much for that huge effort!
Yeah, there is things like 86Box, because I find life without coding on C89 in BorlandC very boring 🥲
I did a pkg delete -a again, and pulled from your list, added the WindowManager dockapps I was...
There's always a bit (8%) that's reserved. Only root can write beyond that. So you can end up over 100% capacity. This is to prevent users from filling up the filesystem entirely. Doesn't stop root from completely filling it up though ;)...
After reading through https://freebsd.github.io/iocage/ I have managed to start my jail but can't get networking configured.
The Networking section https://freebsd.github.io/iocage/networking.html makes it sound very straightforward but I can't...
FreeBSD is wonderful, but there are some blobs in the source.
I have searched discussions about deblobbing FreeBSD, but the forums I've searched is very old.
I tried to deblob FreeBSD's kernel myself, but it is challenging because of two reasons...
That is not the amplifier, but the whole system, mainly speakers and amplifier together.
As said, my final decision for the Canadian speakers against the British ones was just because
of the sound of the cord of a cembalo.

I believe that FORTRAN's "assigned GOTO" would also qualify:
ASSIGN 1000 to LEG
...
ASSIGN 2000 to LEG
...
GO TO LEG
I used computed GOTOs frequently, as they were a succinct multi-way switch mechanism, but never assigned GOTOs. They were too...

As we look back on 2025, it is clear that this has been a year of meaningful progress for the FreeBSD Project and the FreeBSD Foundation. We advanced key development initiatives, strengthened...
I *think* the only solution would be to change the card--of course it's Lenovo so they blacklist some cards--I've forgotten the details and it may no longer even be true, but at least at one point if you put a different card in a Lenovo it might...
There is a thing I do not understand (well, tons of things but this is one). If I run the command make package in the ports tree, the result is a package of the port in the default packages directory /usr/ports/packages/All. If I set the...

I've been using "Nightly" / waterfox on freebsd for the last few days, it seems to be working pretty well. No crashes or hangs, all sites I've looked at display as normal. It looks pretty good as a FF alternative, and no AI. Ublock origin and...
I have limited monthly download limit and wonder if would be able resume at the point where my download limit was exhausted if I tried the following month.
Threads like this are gold. Simple question, way too many answers. old saying about "different ways to skin a cat".
Keep them in your pocket because someday, you will look like Einstein when you offer them.
Not a fan of Palemoon:

Palemoon is a Firefox fork, no? Try a different fork like Waterfox. Or ungoogled-chromium. I don't run the latter cause I build my own packages and its build time is frankly...
OK, some more technical stuff.
I have found a better, more elegant solution to the KDE problem.

I might speak for most of the readers when I say: flavors or default options, both is fine with me, as long as reasonable ports/packages are available. :)

Well, I have a VT6105/VT6106S [Rhine-III] on my old PC. It has 15.0-RELEASE-p1 and it works, I just tested it.
I needed some tricks with route because the machine isn't configured to use it, but it works, I post this message thru this card...
