Sure, see following guide I wrote. This gives me the opportunity to practice and memorize how to do it when I need to perform such a procedure myself.
Boot up the FreeBSD installer media, start the menu guided installation, configure keymap...
Oracle always had competition, unless you define their market in a myopic way.
They shipped what is probably the first relational database available to commercial customers in 1979. It was a small upstart, competing with hierarchical and network...
When attempting to run or build a new jail with Poudriere on a FreeBSD 14.3-RELEASE p3 machine, I receive the following error messages:

Yes. Privatise profits, socialize losses. Same old game. Because such an attack has "a considerable amount of criminal energy", what they use as a term here in the news for such things. Because then, insurance will pay. Labeling it (more...
(yesterday I've seen a comment on another thread explaining ai-assisted coding is different than vibe coding, apparently vibe coding is when you only use conversation to produce a piece of software, if you interact with the code, refactor it...
While it's convenient, it worked the same way. I suspect that IPv6 capable websites are working, and IPv4 only websites aren't working. Something is in the reboot, that's not in netstart, or I have something misconfigured. Still, that it works on...
I tried sudo once, when I was in college and learning on Debian. And while that was the standard thing for the class, I discovered that I don't like it.
It's freakin' twice the complexity of su!
Security and convenience are two sides of the...
Seems to be a common misconception among Americans, the EU and Europe are not the same thing. Europe is the continent, the EU is a political and economic organisation of several (but not all) European countries.
I don't. Usually, that comes from our leftpondian friends. It is correlated with authorian gouvernments, and those are still not as widespread here as some people from "over there" wish for. Sniffing out every citizen is something dictators do...
For personal letters even handwriting is okay, and there is nothing wrong with setting letters and invoices with troff/groff as mro does, but if one aim for professionally looking and aesthetically pleasing typesetting, TeX (esp. pdfTeX) or...
About dropping into single-user mode without rebooting. Then when going into multi user mode, restarting the Internet connection afterwards or otherwise after using commands to take computer offline.
init 1 will drop you into single-user mode...
FWIW my minipc has AMD Radeon 780M graphics unit (Phoenix1 in pciconf -lv) and it works with graphics/drm-61-kmod (build from source on 14.1-RELEASE). Just be aware of Power off not working, but the patch mentioned in this issue fixes it.
vermaden's work inspired me to write lsblk.lua, my version of lsblk(8) for FreeBSD. It is implemented in flua, a Lua interpreter included in the base system since FreeBSD 13. I was excited to find a new, powerful scripting language in base. Soon...

Never had anything with Oracle (not counting tech they acquired from Sun), but my good friend Dave (unfortunately, he passed young) worked in their Johannesburg branch and he hated working there, despite his uncle who got him this job was in...

DO NOT USE FREEBSD-UPDATE TO UPGRADE TO 15.0-ALPHA3.
It will break your system by installing a new libc before it installs libsys.
We'll fix freebsd-update to install...
for now the best way to find the available set packages is to run pkg search FreeBSD-set- and look at descriptions. i'm working on a manpage for this, but it hasn't landed yet.
you can't use rc(8) without a shell, so there's no way to do that...
Sorry, I missed this last year. It's difficult to illustrate the scope of groff in limited space. Here is something simple from my recipe collection. It contains a small table and uses the groff_mm macros.

As I said, I know someone that write his letters with HTML.
I do not know much more than HTML 1.0 with some elements of HTML 4.01,
little knowledge of CSS and javascript. I cannot judge how good this solution is.
I just googled and there are...

Define bad? There are certainly other companies I would be happier dealing with. There are also other companies I would hate to have to deal with more.

That is one reason.
Note that LaTeX are TeX macros as also plain' TeX. Knuth's idea was that everyone writes his macros.
I prefer TeX because it is meager and I dare more to write macros, but avoid doing it and prefer to write 'dynamic TeX'...
I personally know a dev-ops specialist working at Oracle. Due to NDA's he can't specifically talk about much of what he does internally but often recommends OCI and its different services.
Oracle Linux is in the extended Red Hat family, just like CentOS. It (OL) is almost identical to RHEL, save for an alternate "Unbreakable" kernel build and a few other tweaks.
My bad. A typo. I should have said the system wasn't horrible. I'll edit my post.
And thanks, if you hadn't caught that, I never would have noticed my own typo.
A new screenshot with the latest release of gala, the desktop manager from elementary OS. Bottom panel is their new dock, above terminal, is their default music player and hidden files manager.

I mentioned in another thread that I ran a pkg update, pkg upgrade on a 15.0-ALPHA2 and it updated to ALPHA3. No problems, though it's small install, just runs openbox, and everything is still working after the upgrade.
My last job was in a CentOS shop, years ago now, probably around the time of CentOS 5x. Anyway, we got some new Oracle database and their salespeople convinced my boss they needed Oracle Linux. So, we got one. We had one or two problems, and I...
So far I have received the JM20 (cirrus logic CS43131) and the NICE-HCK (realtek ALC5686) usb dac's, I'm still waiting to receive the conexant CX31993.
Both the JM20 and NICE-HCK work fine with freebsd 14.3-RELEASE, I tested them on my thinkpad...
They are a commercial company - all commercial companies needs / wants to make money. Which is fine.
For a long while, their main product was the Oracle database (some argues that it still is). Before they had serious competition they priced...

Off the shelf word processors. For example MS Word, or Google Docs. Google Docs has the advantage that it doesn't require any software to be installed, since it runs completely in the browser. It also happens to be free and requires no license. I...
