Now it gets handy if you don't name all your pools zroot or zpool... but choose a somewhat descriptive name like an abbreviation of vendor-model of the disk or the machine it was built in.
I can also confirm. For a short while, here at home, I was running a zpool in a small home server and backing it up onto a RAIDz zpool built on 3 external USB3 HDDs.
