Xfce Xfce(4) issue

So...how do I remove a desktop icon which is no longer needed as the program to which it is associated is no longer needed and has been removed?

Does some file in the X11 directory need to be edited?

IIRC, under settings > Desktop, there is a tab which controls the Icons displayed on the desktop.

Are you asking about a "launcher" icon that sits on your desktop? If so, just right-click on it and select delete.
