Solved Xerox Phaser 6510DN, no ppd

The Phaser 6510 is on the home lan ethernet connected. My desktop system is bare-bones, icewm and no DE, running FreeBSD 14.0. The printer is found with the CUPS browser (Firefox) interface, but a ppd or driver for other than Windows or Mac is not available from Xerox and not found in the gutenprint list. I've tried various ppd including generics. Also connected as ipp and tried ipp-everywhere. With all tries I can set defaults from the CUPS web administraion menu, but most of these settings don't get set. Specifically, paper source and pages to print set in print dialogs raised in xpdf, LibreOffice or jedit have no effect; print jobs are always whole document from tray 1. My understanding of the issue is small, but I suspect there is no solution and I'll have to keep printing from an old Mac mini otherwise not used anymore as my FreeBSD desktop computer is all I need. But I hope I can put the Mac mini away and reclaim some desk space. Thanks for any advice.

Did you check this site Openprinting ? I did a search , alas they don't have your model, but a lot of other "Phaser" they may be compatible more or less. I also checked Xerox's site , they have Linux and HPUX versions of the 6510 driver, if you expand those files, bingo, there is a PPD - at least on Linux version. At least this is a PostScript/PCL printer.

the Linux is mentioned as 'standard driver' but as I see, now, the ppd is different than of the windoze 10 ppd on the Xerox site, I just downloaded the win .exe and expanded via wine , its the 2 ppd's that are on the Ubuntu forum

Thanks both. I retrieved the ppd from the ubuntu forum thread and as far as tested, it works. I had to register there to have access--that might be useful in the future too.
Thanks Thanks

Great. As the originator of the thread, you can mark it solved by editing the first post and choosing solved in the title line (I think, but it's pretty easy to figure out).
