What's in your mancave.

Audio/Video System:
  • Ultra-Short Throw projector with 120" screen
  • 9.1.4 high-end audio system for surround and stereo use
  • FreeBSD HTPC and other media/disk players
Other than that, reading nook and some pinball machines.

guns, lots of (curio/relic) guns, and swords and sabres, and a one of a kind Krupp breech loading cannon...the requisite number of exotic DVDs...many lighters and cigar cutters...1792 small batch bourbon in a decanter...suede sofa with reclining end seats...large LCD TV above fireplace...

Same here. My "mancave" starts when you walk through my front door.
Yep, with the best of intentions, my mancave spread throughout the rest of the house.

Or at least most of it. My wife did accidentally stub her toe on an old v210 I had propped up against the sofa. She got quite angry so it lives in the garage now.

A total mess atm. Now removing a massive wood construct that was once a mainframe made of old PC's. Who can use old LSI SAS controllers? 😊

I now these, in former life. And LTO backups on tape.
Never had a PC tapedrive. Only for a few 8-bit computers. I wish it wasn't so expensive. I would like a 1PB drive and 3 tapes or so. Nice for long term backup. Make a big copy of everything first and add only newer files the next 20 years.

I never understood overclocking. CPU has a pipeline his own o.s. why annoy it with frequency.
There was a time i was tasting the world around me using weird flags in gentoo linux and even freebsd. I stopped with this attitude.

I used to have many overclocked computers in the mancave. But CPU overclocking is dead now.
My server ran on an unlocked and OC'd Phenom II X3 720 for a bit :p

Bring back core unlocking! It was cool buying a cheaper triple-core, a motherboard advertising unlock capabilities, and waiting in suspense for POST to see if a core actually unlocked :D (iirc some X4s could unlock to 6-core)

Improving hardware before throwing money at newer stuff :p (GPUs can get free performance by lifting power limits; RX 580 was like 20% power-limited out-the-box and had notable gains officially dragging a slider to max no over-volt or warranty concern)

Skylake CPUs in laptops can be undervolted (I do -100mv all CPU/GPU on 8th gen), and silly limits exist (like IccMax; I 255A max that because the default limit was lower than the CPU/platform can handle with Turbo, and it can't get too-high since the load can't get high-enough to request that kind-of power on mobile SKU; or something like that :p)
