What not-so-common activities/passivities do you enjoy for casual fun?

Some time ago I'd messed with engines (inline 6 gm250 gm292) and drag races, Now only make repairs and improvements in my house, secure wireless network without polluting the network of neighbors, certified cat6a through the entire house, a small datacenter offering services for users (daughter, wife, me, visitors).

I like cooking too, everyday I cook 3 meals for my family and I enjoy it a lot, just to have the pleasure to make delicious and healthy food with what I have available.

Other than that the usual: enjoy my family, movies, TV shows.

I used to fly remote controled gliders, but that has suffered due to time loss. You need some hours of uninterrupted time, and with a family this is hard to schedule. You also need good weather, which creates more problems with the schedule. I love flying, but due to eye problems can not fly myself. No 3D vision - so that would not go well with the medical examination for pilots.

I also used to play games a lot, D&D, Whitewolf stuff, LARP, ... but again, here comes the time sink. Tinkering around the car. As long as I do not need to touch things like brake systems (possible fatal consequences of errors), I do my own repairs. Also fixing stuff around the house, like bike, computers, kitchen stuff, whatever. That is fun.

And when time permits, I read compiler and kernel source codes. Yes, for fun! Over the years, I have built a small collection of code which I think is worth reading from time to time. Marvel at the simplicity of code written by Wirth, the elegance of the first BSD kernels, functionality of code from Charles Moore.
