qemu Virtual GPU as KVM guest -- best alternative?

Hello.
I tested FreeBSD in a bare metal machine and liked it. Now I want to install it in a VM (using KVM) in another computer. But I couldn't find much information about the GPU support.
File manager, editor, etc, will be text-based. Browser, video player and pdf viewer are the only graphical applications I will run, so I'm going to use some virtual GPU.
I intended to use VirtIO and install virgil. But while there's a virglrenderer port, it is not updated for a while, and have no mantainer (x11/virglrenderer). Is the same true for the binary package? Someone tried using it, is it good?
Or with freeBSD it is better to use some other virtual VGA/driver?

Generally X11 (forwarding/SSH) is the most guaranteed way to go. Or VNC.

The only thing I believe you will struggle with is playing videos (at very high resolutions).
