Valuable News – 2026/04/13

While the billions of pieces of data in it could have been better digested for presentation, I really enjoyed the "History of Unix Manpages". I thought I knew a reasonable amount about manpages but definitely learned more than one thing. :)

(BTW, the "Software to Keep Photos Organized" link on your page is listed twice.)

"CUDA Works on FreeBSD.
https://reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/1sey5l3/cuda_works/"

Hmmm, certainly does not work for me.

I do have llama.cpp running accelerated via Vulkan on FreeBSD, though. (without Linuxulator)
From the link, it's CUDA using linuxlator, using a rocky linux 10 base and nvidia which uses the nvidia-uvm method plus patches. It appears well described though.
But clearly the patches that shkhln and others have made to compat linux libraries should be merged as soon as possible as its clearly impacting more than gaming on FreeBSD.
