Valuable News – 2026/02/16

Thank you for the weekly dose of interesting news.

I read in full EricBSD's post about XLibre and the future of GhostBSD and found it both a very good read and very illuminating. I recommend reading it to anyone interested in the BSD world.

I also read thoroughly Chris Siebenmann's post about the undo and redo commands in vi, nvi, vim, and other relatives and found it very interesting. I like nvi's way, though, unlike the author of the post; I agree it's not the most natural, but it's kind of fun. One thing that stands out in the post is how many offspring vi has. Most of them are mentioned in the last paragraph.

Finally, it's good to see that you included zester's thread about his interesting desktop environment as the second item of your list.
