Upgraded to Nvidia 595.104.02 worked but got an EGL error

Just upgrade the Nvidia Driver to 595.104.02
and nvidia-drm-66-kmod-595.104.02.1501000

Uninstalled the versions i build with Poudrire and installed the pkg versions

Every seems ok but i did get a EGL that popped up starting dwl
could see what it was and cant see anything in dmesg

This is my kld_list in /etc/rc.conf

Code:
kld_list="nvidia-modeset nvidia-drm nvidia_gsp_tu10x_fw linux linux64 i915kms ext2fs mac_priority fusefs vmm nmdm"

config files

It might be an issue with dwl,
will have to look into it

Code:
nv-sglrun nvidia-smi
/usr/local/lib/libc6-shim/libc6.so: shim init

Do you have latest
installed?

And if you want GSP firmware to be loaded, you need
hw.nvidia.registry.EnableGpuFirmware=1
in your /boot/loader.conf. With this, nvidia.ko should automatically determine which firmware module to load.

This is disabled (set to 0, precisely 2 to accept upstream default that is 0) by default on ports side as of the issue reported at PR 285741, PR 285803 and would've been some more, followed by modified fix not to make GSP completely unavailable (review D50053).
The value can be 17 if you want automatic fallback for older GPUs.

Haven't confirmed from which version, but hw.nvidiadrm.modeset=1 became default at some point (noticed when testing 615.71.09, which is the previous version of -devel variant). But to be paranoid, I still have it in my /boot/loader.conf for surely enable nvidia-drm.ko.

cheers mate
i have those packages installed

ill try adding

Code:
 hw.nvidia.registry.EnableGpuFirmware=1

to my /boot/loader.conf

i have nvidia-modeset in my rc.conf kldlist

Code:
kld_list="nvidia-modeset nvidia-drm nvidia_gsp_tu10x_fw linux linux64 i915kms ext2fs mac_priority fusefs vmm nmdm"

I added the following to my /boot/loader.conf

Code:
 hw.nvidia.registry.EnableGpuFirmware=1

But i still get the egl error when starting either mangowm or dwl

i currently have this installed

Code:
nvidia-drm-66-kmod-595.104.02.1501000

should i be using the newer version

Code:
nvidia-drm-612-kmod-595.104.02.1501000 NVIDIA DRM Kernel Module

Not sure, but possibly worth trying to (temporarily) rename
/usr/local/share/egl/egl_external_platform.d/09_nvidia_wayland2.json
to
/usr/local/share/egl/egl_external_platform.d/99_nvidia_wayland2.json
to lower its priority to be lowest.

This could help if dwl supports well for EGLStream-based Wayland external platform rather than Dma-buf-based Wayland external platform.

The former is what NVIDIA initially tend to make "mainline" of EGL for Wayland, while the latter may be the actual "mainline" of EGL on Wayland.

So if dwl has "special" support codes for initial NVIDIA EGL implementation (graphics/egl-wayland) from before graphics/egl-wayland2 appears, give graphics/egl-wayland higher priority could help.

i get the same error with both dwl and mango wm which is what im using now

ill read the documentation and see if it mentions egl
and try a few permutations

cheers mate
