Solved Terminal over ssh has terrible lag

Very recently I reinstalled freebsd FreeBSD with a custom script rather than the default install as described in this post.

In general when typing in the terminal over SSH there is a terrible lag for the text to appear and the cursor to respond.

With my original install it was very snappy.

I have incredibly fast disk. It benched with bonnie around 540 MBps read/write.
I am on gigabit network.
Its a new modern server, so everything hardware wise is pretty quick.

No load currently of any kind.

This occurs in bash or csh.

I haven't checked the feel over IPMI on real console.

Where else can I start to look to identify the cause?

Well that was a surprise.

The issue arose after a reinstall, so this never occurred to me.

There is packet loss.

I found ping time between my servers are all good, but not from my mac over wifi.

Well now I know where to look.
