i've been using for a while some tcl extensions that are not in ports like tclodbc, rl-json, tcl-curl, tcl-csv, ooxml-xlsx-reader-writer, tcl-cffi, etc
i wonder if there is any interest to create ports out of them
for now i just have one for tclodbc
well, the tcl system is sorta b0rked in ports like
you can install both tcl8.6 and tcl9.0 at the same time but
binary extensions provided by ports/packages only work with 8.6.
to have both tcl8 and tcl9 working on the same box probably distinct packages should be built and port makefiles changed because 8x binary extensions are not binary compatible with 9x
some ports wont build with tcl9 at all because the version is too old (like tcltls)
version 9 of tcl and tk wont install private headers so some stuff won't build
for most ports changing USES= tcl to USES= tcl:86+,tea will make them build with 9. older packages might fail because either some types are assumed as int and in 9 are Tcl_size which is long and or stub init has a hardcoded version of 8.x.
but as of now if you don't build your custom repo is a bit of pain to use 9.
