System76 Pangolin 12 struggling to get wifi and audio to work.

Hi,

I'm a long time Linux user and extrememly new to FreeBSD, I've been watching the development of FreeBSD and more specifically for the system76's Pangolin 12 laptop as seen here . I been following the development of the wifi driver during install it did identify the need for the package wifi-firmware-mt76-kmod-mt792x but this failed to install. After installation I manually installed wifi-firmware-mt76-kmod-mt7921 which did install, I then tried to follow the guide to try and get it working. I used this config

Code:
wlans_mt79210="wlan0"
create_args_wlan0="wlanmode sta regdomain etsi country GB"
ifconfig_wlan0="up WPA"
ifconfig_wlan0_ipv6="inet6 -ifdisabled accept_rtadv"

and installed wpa_supplicant with this config

Code:
network={
  ssid="HomeWifi"
  psk="MySecretPassword"
}

howeverI could never get the Wifi to work, any pointers where I'm going wrong ?

I then installed KDE desktop , I did note the caveat on the guide regarding drm-kmod, which I obviously installed following the wiki regarding AMD graphics for x window system section. However I couldn't get wifi to work before installing KDE and I don't fully understand the caveat instructions.

The second issue as seen from the compatibility wiki mentioned above, is audio, I cannot get it work following the wiki, I've even tried comments mentioned on the compatibility wiki on other hardware that has the same/similar audio hardware as seen here

this is what I tried with no such luck

Code:
   $ mixer vol=1.0 \
   $ mixer pcm=1.0 \
/boot/device.hints:
    hint.hdaa.1.nid20.config="as=1 seq=0 device=Speakers"
    hint.hdaa.1.nid33.config="as=1 seq=15 device=Headphones"

/etc/sysctl.conf
    hw.snd.vpc_0db=1

any advice as to where I can progress now ?

I would rather not have to purchase a separate laptop for FreeBSD if I can, when most of the hardware, does work already.

thanks for you help with trying to debug this.

Will sound work without the device hints? For a new install I don't have to use those. Be sure to reboot
I've removed the device hints and the line from sysctl.conf and rebooted. Playing a video with sound doesn't work, KDE system tray sound applet shows that sound is being played , just not outputting through the speakers

Regarding Wi-Fi:

Please show us which FreeBSD version you are running: uname -a

You need to run at least 15.1-STABLE, or ideally 16.0-CURRENT to test the mt76 driver.

Which adapter exactly is used: pciconf -lv | grep -B3 network (show us only the wireless network)

Furthermore, if the connection trouble occurs on the required FreeBSD versions, you should subscribe to the freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org mailing list and talk to the developer of the driver Bjoern A. Zeeb himself. He tends to respond ASAP and can help you best. Put [mt76] in the mail subject.

Regarding audio:

Please show us

cat /dev/sndstat
dmesg | grep hdac
sysctl dev.hdac.0.pindump=1 (look for the output in dmesg(8) or /var/log/messages.

Keep the device hints removed.

thanks for this I will message him to seek help with this issue.

as a final note I did try and remove the package versions of drm-kmod and the wifi driver and compiled from ports both, rebooted, with no positive result.
