Solved Sudo upgrade asks to remove /usr/local/etc/sudoers

Hello everybody,

today we had a upgrade for sudo: 1.9.5p1 -> 1.9.5p2.

I think it is related to following security advisory.

I wonder about the install notice:
You may need to manually remove /usr/local/etc/sudoers if it is no longer needed.

Did anyone dig deeper into it and can tell me why I would like to remove the file?

Usually I edit sudoers via visudo.

For now I left the file where it is.

Best,
Tobias

How did you upgrade - pkg or ports?

I'm not 100% sure but that part might have been shown when the old version was removed and before the new version was installed.

So as part of the removal process it says you *may* need to remove the old configuration.

Obviously if you are doing an upgrade you wouldn't want to remove the configuration - you want it to persist and be used with the new binaries.

I used pkg upgrade.

Now I begin to understand.
It most likely is displayed due to removal of the old version within the upgrade process.

Thank you for explanation.

Best,
Tobias

For me, it would not be the first time that configuration moves.

I thought I better double check, as it is sudo we are talking about.

Thank you!

Best,
Tobias
