Solved Standard Startup Boot Screen Lost

How do I recover it? It does not show up anymore. I'm referring to the ASCII screen with the devil logo and a big "FREEBSD", with boot options. Thank you.

Have a look in /boot/loader.conf and see if there's a beastie_disable="YES". If so, remove it.

Check if it's been modified in /boot/default/loader.conf. This file should never be modified but inexperienced users may have edited it.

Just for the record; it's not loader.conf(5), per se;
It's loader.4th, and loader.rc, as well as: menu.4th menu.rc menusets.4th menu-commands.4th. Though it is possible to influence if via loader.conf(5). In this case, I would say it was more important to ensure all of those files were actually present under /boot/, and further, that they weren't corrupt.
