Solved [Solved] Any nonfree repos?

Hello, all.
This may sound like a really stupid question, but please keep in mind, I use Linux a lot. ;)
What is the repository for extra free/nonfree packages (if any)? I Googled around and couldn't find much, only that on the a GNU page they said that I should be able to find it easily somewhere else. :OO

So am I chasing a ghost?

Re: Any nonfree repos?

Yes. FreeBSD ports and packages are not separated by license. Can you be more specific about what you're trying to find?

Re: Any nonfree repos?

Hi @Ihatewindows, there is a big cultural difference between Linux & BSD. Under Linux, non-free basically just means that the source code is not freely available. BSD doesn't worry as long as it is free to use.

Actually, Linux distros go even as far as calling non-GPL software as "non-free" even if the source code is available but the licensing not up to their nose-turned-up standards. Big pile of nonsense if you ask me.

Re: Any nonfree repos?

Keep in mind that some ports do not build packages. The licenses of those particular ports don't allow binary re-distribution. So there will be no package for it. As far as I know there are no other package repositories. The license will remain the same so distributing them (i.e. a custom repository) would be a violation of that license.
