Other SCSI device Deprecation

Note: this is for the older, parallel SCSI drivers (Wide, Ultra, etc). The ones with the really wide, flat, ribbon cables, and that require terminators at the end of the chain. :)

Serial attached scsi (SAS) is not being touched.

All I have left SCSI is a Mikrotik scanner from many many moons ago. It cost me too much to chuck.
Maybe a Nikon slide scanner from last century hiding in a box too...
Tekram controller and 50 pin cables.
Those were the days.

Those were the days.

Ah memories ... Future Domain, Adaptec, LSI ... 50 pin, 68 pin, terminating resistors ... hard disks, scanners (Nikon film, HP flatbed) and a DDS3 tape magazine. All gone to other homes or landfill some years ago (though the Nikon film scanner is still in a box in a cupboard somewhere).

Remember when SCSI was the CD burning king. SCSI could do multitasking while IDE burners would make nice coasters.
That was an easy selling point for me back in the day.
Don't forget to set your deviceID...

I started with Conner 100MB SCSI disks for my FidoNet BBS machine because I could add four disks and two Pioneer SCSI 6-CD changers. Regardless of CPU (86, 286, 386SX etc) bandwidth performance was unmatched by MFM, RLL and later IDE drives.
