Ah, perfect opportunity to remind y'all about Linda Branagan and her FreeBSD DaemonHa oldfashioned logo. Not watered down orbs. Was the best on T-Shirts.
Had folk get upset at mine, I'd simply say "Not demon in the Biblical sense, daemon in the Greek sense of helper". Wound up with discussions and "Oh, I never realized...." FBSD for the win.
There was a very charming FreeBSD sys admin who used to be at conferences in a very good looking daemonette costume. Not going to post her name, privacy matters. Photos of her can be found online, search for "FreeBSD daemonette". Never talked to her, but saw her at a few conferences.Ah, perfect opportunity to remind y'all about Linda Branagan and her FreeBSD Daemon![]()

I'm a passionate advocate for using ternary logic, that way we can avoid failing into paradoxes traps.P.S. You get to decide whether the line above is sarcasm or not. The answer is: both yes and no.
Ahhh... Annoyed enough to type out commentary, but not annoyed enough to type out working kernel code?It is beastie holding a page that says survey. I reserve the right to be annoyed about GenAI in my FreeBSD.
Very few people on these forums are developers (of the OS). What's wrong with me not being one? Besides, I don't think they want to add Java or whatever to the base. I haven't bothered to learn C anyways. Call me a bad programmer, but I just don't need it. I don't want to work with low-level systems stuff. I like to write userland utility programs anyways, and that's what I will keep doing.Ahhh... Annoyed enough to type out commentary, but not annoyed enough to type out working kernel code?![]()
