Other Proper Common Desktop Environment Instructions

Hi does anyone know proper CDE install instructions? Other than sourceforge
I install, but /home is unreadable. I try chmod -R 751 on /home but to
no avail.

This helps, but not that much. Might have something to do with ksh93 IDK

Any Help?

I'm not sure I understand this part about sourceforge.
As SirDice points out, cde is available as a package, the post install message has a lot of good information, the thread you link has some extra hints on "things to not do (dtlogin in rc.local)"

pkg and sourceforge are 2 different things. I recommend pkg. Which steps did you already do, especially regarding the sourceforge stuff?

Why would you want to use the upstream sources when we have two ports and two corresponding packages? Besides, the sourceforge sources won't build on on FreeBSD without patches.

We don't support that here when ports and packages already exist. Use the ports or the packages.

Please stop using portsnap(8). When 14 is EoL the entire portsnap(8) infrastructure will be removed.

Oh, right, it was already removed from the 14 base. All the more reason to stop using it.

packages opensp and ksh93 are no longer in the repositories as of 14.0 what do I replace them with.

OpenSP is still there it's case sensitive.

14.0 went EOL in 2023 and repositories likely don't exist.
14.4 is the current release of 14, 15.1 current release of 15
