Problem connecting wifi

On a Toshiba laptop, FreeBSD 15, interface Intel iwm0, module loaded in the kernel
/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf OK
/etc/rc.conf OK
ifconfig -a shows wlan1 up w/ the correct SSID and IP address 192.168.1.46 OK

However a ping response is :

#ping zeman
PING zeman (192.168.1.110): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: Network is down
ping: sendto: Network is down

Doesn't understand why...

That's good. Only minor discrepancy I might see, why wlan1? Not wlan0? Is that intentional?

There's at least some network connectivity. It managed to resolve the zeman hostname to an IP address. And you can't do that if there's no network connectivity.

Or is the host's own name? Or some other computer on your local network? Or name resolving done via a hosts file?

Doesn't understand why...

Is the ping target host configured to drop ping?

What happens if you ping www.google.com?

You can try running netstat -rn.
In the Internet section, is there a default line?
Does it have the G under Flags, and is your wireless controller in the last column?

If not, you may need to restart the routing service service routing restart or add your default route manually (if this was not done automatically or specified in your /etc/rc.conf with defaultrouter).

About wlan1.
I first create wlan0 but after a reboot, wlan1 appears. Strange. So I use wlan1.

For info zeman is on the same LAN as my laptop. What's more, if I use wired Ethernet, the ping zeman replies correctly. zeman is on the hosts file.
The default route is also correct.

I discovered that I misued the /etc/rc.d/wpa_supplicant.
It must be (if manually) used as "/etc/rc.d/wpa_supplicant start wlan1"
or "/etc/rc.d/wpa_supplicant start em0"
And more to it, netstat -rn must shows UGS for wlan1
I am going to solve this and then write the solution of my case.
