hyper-v P2V a FreeBSD machine

I assume that it is a good thing that it might, but all that I have is a drive on my desk that I have to convert, so it may be either.

Yes, yes a very salient answer indeed... I should think the steps to follow in order to accomplish such a task would be:

0. asses choice of virtualizaton tech
1. man [gpart | mount | dd | qemu-img]
2. proceed according to the new attained knowledge and understanding
3. profit

PS. I often find very motivational and helpful to engage in a 1-1 convo with one self, before launching forward into a project. Usually a mirror helps, followed by some hard hitting questions , such as : Do I got this ? ; Do I want to put the effort into getting it ? ; Who does number one work for ? ; Do I want to be the $hit or a $hit stain ?

I guess #1 implies that there is a device on which this drive can be booted/mounted before it's P2Ved? Unfortunately, there isn't, in my case.
You said in post #3 that you have a drive that you need to convert. So which is it?? Is it about a drive or a server?

If it's a server, then go the mfsbsd route and just as well see post #4
