Other NTFS problem using Ventoy

I'm having a problem with mounting an NTFS partition when booting FreeBSD 13.1 from a partition on a disk which uses Ventoy as a bootloader.
I've created a GPT partitioned disk on which there are two NTFS partitions. The first is where I basically dump any ISO and try booting it directly from Ventoy. Booting ISOs generally works fine. FreeBSD ISO's and mfsBSD boot OK. You can even create an extra partition and install FreeBSD on it.

One nice feature is that you can invoke your own menu options and boot various OS's from separate partitions using a ventoy_grub.cfg which exists on the first partition. The problem I have that any changes I make to that file are not saved after a reboot. The only way I can make changes is to connect the disk to a Windows system.

Does this point to a problem with the ntfs-3g program?
