Not all drives detected - M1015 (flashed to 8211-IT) on FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE

Unfortunately, I am facing the same issue. Not using FreeBSD, but Unraid. Hope someone is still reading this thread and may have an idea whether this adds any info for a solution?
 
Mostly 6TB WD Green. An early firmware (12 or so?). Don't know what a backplane is (probably none?) and don't think I am using any expanders?

Having 16 disks in total (8 on mobo and 8 on m1015 card) and then also a SSD on a PCI-E card.
