Network interface not working

I’m running 14 stable on a Mac G4 ppc32 Quicksilver directly connected to a router via Ethernet cable. The system will not connect to the internet OR network. When I run “ifconfig gem0” I get the following response:
Cannot reset transmitter
Cannot reset receiver
Cannot reset receiver
Cannot reset device

I have ifconfig set to “SYNCDHCP” per posts in the forum in /etc/rc.conf

Cable is good, router is working, router uses DHCP

What do you need from me to get this to work?

Please keep in mind that PPC32 is a Tier 2 platform. And support for it will be completely removed with 15 and onward.

I appreciate the information, however, FreeBSD 14 IS for a ppc32 Mac G4 and this doesn’t answer the question, or address the issue. FreeBSD touts itself (for now) as being one of the few remaining ppc32 distros. One of the reasons I decided to try it is no LINUX distro has been able to drive this machine. If it’s not the Ethernet issue it’s a GPU issue. If you know someone who has run into the above issue I’d appreciate it if you let them know about it. Current searches of the forum have only shown solutions for wifi.

The last version of FreeBSD I've gotten to work on PowerPC (a G4 Mac Mini) is 14.2 and that required installing from a DVD, the network would crap out trying to install over the network after getting to a certain point. It is definitely not a daily driver OS on that platform but for testing big-endian portability it works well enough. Anything after 14.2 it won't even boot from the ISO; it gets stuck in a loop of CAM errors.
