My hard drives are failing , one after the other , any help?

I have 4 hdds (no raid - ntfs)
And using them for different periods ranging from few months to years

And they fail one after the other in very near time suspiciously (few weeks between each fail) and i replace failed disks with new ones fail in very near time too


I have no clue why this happen or what mistake i am doing leading to this, but i think some may have any idea? Any help about this will be appreciated , i will lose my mind soon from so many disks failing

System cooling is really good they dont pass 45 degree at all

If they are operated in the same machine for a long time, the hours running should be the same of all. Are the disks the same model?
Maybe they fail because of their age.

They are different models and working hours are different

Dunno about FBSD but you can boot the Hirens Boot CD and use hwmonitor to read temps and voltages.

Disks have both 5 and 12v inputs.

Pull the PSU open the cover and search carefully for popped capacitors. If a Bestec PSU throw it away and buy a good one. Can’t go wrong with Seasonic.

How old is the PSU in the PC? If its old, try replacing it with a new one.

My instincts would probably lean towards power supply, but overheating is quite possible, as is faulty cabling.

You can't manage what you don't measure.

Your very first step should be to install and configure sysutils/smartmontools.

Then keep a close eye on the reports.

I always keep in store a spare known good power supply...

The problem with smartmontools is that it can produce so many reports and it is like searching for a needle in a haystack if you are not familiar with the program and don't know specifically what to look for.

smartctl

is simple enough to check a drive once in a while and to start short/long self tests.

What we don't know yet is what kind of disk we are talking about. Spinning Rust, f.e., is alergic to strong magnetic fields, SSDs to other kinds of trouble.
