Solved MPlayer2 + vdpau

I don't seem to have vdpau available in mplayer. mplayer -vo help just shows your standard output. I know when I used to run a FreeBSD desktop I could make use of vdpau.
I'm using official packages and have verified they're compiled with vdpau enabled, my GPU supports it and Xorg.0.log shows

NVIDIA(0): [DRI2] VDPAU driver: nvidia
but for some reason it's not showing up, any ideas?
