Solved mountroot: waiting for device /dev/iso9660/12_0_RELEASE_AMD64_DVD...

Why would it be waiting? It just booted from it...

Have you installed FreeBSD already and now you try to boot from it? Have you messed with /etc/fstab?
I haven't used a cd in years, but /dev/iso9660 looks wrong, since cd9660(5) is a filesystem.
The device itself should be /dev/cd0 if you only got one cdrom drive.
 
No, this message was from the very 1st boot of a brand new Virtualbox VM from the DVD ISO.
I solved this by reverting ICH9 to PIIX3 controllers in VM Setting System and Storage sections.
