Is FreeBSD good?

Another thought on the OS as a tool discussion...

I was just reading a blog, I won't embarrass the guy by linking to it, but he said his company wanted to use DB2 for a new web project, because it is easy to install, is reliable, and runs well. But he prefers FreeBSD for web servers, and DB2 does not officially run on FreeBSD. He had a deadline for the project, so he did not want to wait for full support to materialize.

How about testing a few days by repeating all or part of the DB2 mutations on a isolated box and see if the results have interesting differences with the existing configuration?

Or I might just put the web server on the Linux box, because having a reliable, supportable installation is more important than being a hardnose about which operating system I use.

Being hardnose can be more fun (Friendica requires php-posix but I wanted it on a Windows stack)
