It's a long time since I used irc regularly, but I'm interested in using it again.

I've just installed irc/weechat and am trying to connect to https://web.libera.chat/

How do I go about it?

Connect by pointing your IRC client to irc.libera.chat:6697 (TLS)

The link you have is a web gateway, so you can login with a browser and don't need to install an IRC client.

Ok, open weechat. Then you should be able to type in

 /connect liberia

Every time I see that, I get annoyed again at how Slack really pulled the Embrace, engulf, exinguish bit. When they first started, one was able to use it with irssi. I think it was in early 2018 that they stopped that. Fortunately, there is wee-slack which still works well, though the irssi version for slack seems to have stopped working a year or so ago.

I am using
irc/irssi and libera and it works without problems.
