Internet access via phone.

When I use my pone as a hotspot, I have no problems connecting to the Internet from Windows, but can't get this working under FreeBSD.

Previously I was able to connect from FreeBSD via a broadband router, but simply changing the SSID and password did not work.

Do I need additional parameter when connecting via a phone.

I was able to see the SSID when doing a scan but no connection was established.

Alternatively I can connect using USB tethering and when running dhclient ue0 I get an IP address asigned.

What do I need to do after that?

USB tethering after DHCP works should be sufficient for full Internet access. What isn't working?

I just tried it again on another computer and it works fine.

The problem was that I also had an ethernet connection and did know how the change the default route.

I've had it working in the past with an android phone both using the phone as a wifi hotspot and also via usb cable tether, they both worked, using DHCP..

I've used my and my employer's phones as hotspots for three of my FreeBSD laptops (and for my employer provided W11 laptop). No problems here. The three FreeBSD laptops had iwm(4), iwn(4), and rtwn(4) NICs.

Network performance was poor, though better with my employer's phone as they have a better (higher priced) plan than I do.
