Solved Incomplete upgrade. What state is my system in?

Your system is not upgraded in the least, it's still in the preparation stage, letting you know what it will do.

It is safe to re-run the update. It'll go much faster, as the prep work has already been done. :)

In future, may I suggest always starting sysutils/tmux on the remote system after logging in with SSH? That way, if the SSH connection dies like this, you can just reconned and run tmux att to reconnect to the running tmux session and pick up where you left off. :)
