I think Battlestar Galatica is right...

We are all going to fight it out with the Cylons, for many yarn, mostly "lose" and then a single remaining battlestar.. the Galatica... will lead all of us (aka "the survivors") to a new shining planet... (new?) Earth !

But this new Earth is a long, long, long way from here ... and it's going to take an entire 8 or 9 seasons of TV watching to get there... But we will get there !

In the meantime, while Idiocracy strengthens, non-parasitic peoples will probably have to move to South Pole to be left alone to prosper and advance to the stars. Colder climates as well as harsh planets seem to be reliable evolutionary filters - the weak, the dumb, the unpleasant and the freeloaders freeze or get eaten faster.

It seems similar to the Heinlein book, Starship Troopers (I never saw the movie) which was satire, (though I was pretty young when I read it and wasn't sure if it was satire or serious and tended to take anything right wing at that time as an attempt to oppress.) Little did I know how much worse it'd get. Hrm, Is that Neil Patrick Harris under the text, in which case it *is* from Starship Troopers. I've read that the movie completely missed the point of the book. Again, I've not seen the movie so I don't know. And I don't think it is the fault of the social scientists--I'd blame the billionaires, and their useful idiots.

The movie is meant to be a satire.
However the director refused to read the original novel - too boring for him.
And the source material greatness shines through the satire attempt anyway.
Hints: Fascists do not allow news of defeat. And they prefer (involuntary) conscription.

The novel is not fascist. It is a manual on how and why to set up stable minarchist Republic...by making franchise earned privilege. Based on R. Kipling's Army of a Dream and of course original Roman Republic. The bugs in novel are organisms evolved to be perfect collectivist.

Recommend to read the novel. Heinlein was the genius. However in his later works he abandoned the hope for stable Republic in favor of rational anarchism i.e. leaving the planet once they come up with I.D..
