Other i3wm - any benfit to additional power management beyond powerd?

I used i3 years ago on Arch Linux and loved it. I rediscovered it lately, and it's perfect on FreeBSD.

From my (old) notes -- I used to run xfce-power-manager to give myself convenient control of settings. But in FreeBSD, I enabled powerd and the kernel seems to do fine with suspend and lid closes, so is there any benefit?

powerd() has nothing to do with x11-wm/i3. It's just a tool used to manage power-saving modes (AC or batteries).
I understand that. I'm saying that i3 has no power management like a DE such as xfce.

So the question is whether powerd and the kernel's power management features are enough, or if running a separate power manager will yield benefits.
