oh i see it now. i typed /var/run/log instead of /var/log lol/var/run/log does not appear to be a directory. it is a socket. that isnt gonna work cuz this machine is not connected to the internet.

It had to have been a typo. The error message didn't make sense.i typed /var/run/log instead
startx worked at all, without all the argument shenanigans. If X fails then it certainly isn't going to do anything with the arguments.x works, it looks like it isnt taking any of my arguments.It had to have been a typo. The error message didn't make sense.
