How to pass command line args to startx?

/var/run/log does not appear to be a directory. it is a socket. that isnt gonna work cuz this machine is not connected to the internet.

oh i see it now. i typed /var/run/log instead of /var/log lol

It had to have been a typo. The error message didn't make sense.

Anyway, I was wondering if startx worked at all, without all the argument shenanigans. If X fails then it certainly isn't going to do anything with the arguments.

ill go to the store and get about 35 feet of cat5 so i can connect it to the modem and run nc. wired internet baby :3

x works, it looks like it isnt taking any of my arguments.

wrote the output to a file. turns out /usr/local/etc/X11/xinitrc does not take any arguments but ~/.xinitrc does. just copied the system file to the home directory and it works with the command startx /home/username/.xinit /path/to/multimedia.
