How to control post line width?

How do I control the width of the final post? I write a How To in ms/word, select all and copy to clip board. Logon here open new thread and paste it. The preview does not fit on the screen. Have to use horizontal slider bar way far to right to see the complete sentence. This is not acceptable. How do I correct this display width problem so the sentences wrap at a width to fit on screen width?
 
On the contrary, everything will wrap, except

 lines. These will need to be wrapped manually. Whether that is "acceptable" or not.
 
In the textbox on the web page, long lines pasted in may not wrap (one long line for a single paragraph). However, they will wrap correctly once posted.

Don't manually press enter when the cursor gets to edge of the textbox. :) That really plays havoc with the display of the post.
