hide thread possible?

i want certain thread(s) not showing at all - i.e ability to click hide or similar with the aim of not seeing them. is there such a feature?

I'd hide area such as these (the blurred areas):

I'd hide them if the feature existed, but their presence doesn't upset me.

I have no interest in gaming, its combination with multimedia is strange. YMMV.
