Developer is such a broad term. What is a developer? Is it an old lion that spent most of his life coding in assembly, C/C++ and knows hardware inside out, or is it someone with just an idea and access to Claude AI?

Lots of different legends. I always thought running water was vampires and/or witches. I've also read too much urban fantasy and as Crivens wrote, the real name of a demon is usually a way to gain power over them. Although in a lot of the stuff I read, it was for comic effect, such as the demon being summoned by name JUST as they were going to sleep or whatever. But shucks even the old fairytale Rumplestiltskin sort of refers to that. Anyway unless you really believe in them, I wouldn't worry too much about Author A's interpretation vs Author B's. If you do believe in it, well, <shrug> whatever floats your boat. (Not trying to imply *you* believe in it, just speaking in general.)
