HarmonyOS

I only just heard of HarmonyOS today.

Anyone come across it?
Yes I have heard it for multiple times.I am from China. And from what I know,it is an OS Huawei deploys on many of their new devices.According to my memory,Huawei claims that it uses an independently developed microkernel, with FreeBSD code for POSIX compatibility. However, some people suggests that it might just be a flavor of Linux.People here really don't like it as it lacks compatibility for most of commonly used applications.

It's an Android clone from the blockade. When Huawei couldn't be guaranteed access to Android. It's at least two versions behind. They claim the current version contains no Android code. They claimed the same thing for Harmony OS 2 and it was 99% Android 10. Then they just closed sourced it and said "No, this version is 100% custom code". Yeah, right.

If my memory is correct you can even see some Android configuration file in a recently version of Harmony OS...

One could only wish. I mean microkernel is the best fit for consumer devices (and critical ones) where HW and thus drivers are evolving fast - no need to compile them in to kernel.
But I guess it is cheaper just to copy linux/android and it keeps your HW and OS tightly dependent. Which is the main source of revenue, given the bloatware and spyware.
