Sadly, newer laptops don't come with Ethernet ports. Even my employer's HP 840 G9, a newer model of my HP 840 G5, has no Ethernet port. One must use the USB-C Thunderbolt docking station to use Ethernet. Whereas my HP 840 G5 has an Ethernet port in the Ultra Slim docking station and in the laptop itself.
My wife's new Acer (I can't remember the model) that we bought her about a year or two ago also has no Ethernet port. Seems Ethernet has become a thing of the past in the consumer space and even with some business laptops.
I wired my last house with CAT6 Ethernet about 30 years ago and wired my current house, a 1913 vintage, also with CAT6 about 20 years ago. I will continue to use Ethernet because it's convenient for me. My wife uses one of the many WiFi networks I have here.
