Google Domains Going Away

Apparently Google no longer offers new domain registrations. Acquired by Squarespace.

Never used them but surprised to hear it nonetheless. Seemed like a good complement to their cloud offering.

Everyone just uses GoDaddy I guess. Maybe that'll change — good move by Squarespace.

I use Gandi.net, which unfortunately was recently sold and promptly raised prices. Before that I used Namecheap until their Web interface started having serious problems. I used Godaddy before that. I moved one of my domains when it came up for renewal because I frowned upon the childish advertisements they liked to indulge in back then. To my surprise, Godaddy charged my credit card for a renewal I didn't make. I moved all of my domains off them pretty soon after that.

The GoDaddy commercials lol. So bad.

To be fair pretty much all the ads for internet companies follow the same quirky narrative.
