Per a thread a couple of months ago, I had some issues installing an update on 13.5, so need to do a fresh install of 14.3 to make sure everything is good.
What will be different? I already have 14.3 on my virtual colo, so I need to know only for my physical hardware.
I saw that nvd[0-9] devices are now nda[0-9] devices. I also use re[01] devices. I guess those will be the same?
Anything else?
Also, I am debating zfs v. ufs. I have ufs now. I am not in a data intensive situation with my home server: The main drive will be only the system itself and my home directory, so I don't really need features. What do I really need to know to use zfs? Should I? With ufs, I feel like I know how it works....
I guess the main/only benefit of zfs would be to undo a bad update. Is that something I need to learn about in advance?
Also, if I do use zfs for the main drive, do I still add ufs drives to /etc/fstab as before? (now as e.g. nda1). These are backup drives, not at all usage intensive.
