FreeBSD Closes the Laptop Gap: Year One Project Update

"2026 plans: The project continues into 2026 with a similar sized investment and scope. Key targets include completing work on sleep states (modern standby and hibernate), adding support for graphics drivers up to Linux 6.18, Wi-Fi 6 support, USB4 and Thunderbolt support, HDMI improvements, UVC webcam support, and Bluetooth improvements."

Anyone have information on Bluetooth updates, specifically AX210. Thanks.

If you're talking about the FreeBSD Foundation's Laptop Support and Usability Project then then they use issue 44 ("Improve Bluetooth management/usability") to track their Bluetooth work: https://github.com/FreeBSDFoundation/proj-laptop/issues/44

You may be pleased to know they En-Wei Wu is working on AX210 support. Or you may be disappointed by the fact it hasn't landed yet :-)

Thanks. It looks like there was some further progress after the announcement to delay. So would switching to STABLE be any help?
Well, stuff that will go into 15.2 will eventually land in stable before 15.2. But not everything that goes into current (i.e. 16) is merged into stable. For this I'm guessing it will land on stable soonish.
An example is https://github.com/FreeBSDFoundation/proj-laptop/issues/58#issuecomment-4551995379, where it landed on stable but missed 15.1.
