FreeBSD / AMD Rocm status

Hi all,

1) Is there any news or development regarding amd rocm & freebsd ? ( I looked around for 2 days but the most "valid" thing I come across was in some pdf file there was writing that "FreeBSDDesktop group was working on amdkfd to port amd rocm and related utilities to freebsd" I checked FreeBSDDesktop github web page but last update was in 2019, and their github repos didnt have anything about or for amd rocm)

2) How does instutions , or individuals or hobbyists, or you; handle/do gpgpu, or gpu computing at freebsd ? It seems its fine for cpu/memory but computing for gpu seems to be totally absent. (including vulkan compute ? [couldnt verify so, thats why i asked about vulkan compute too] ). the most viable option to run amd rocm seems to be with gpu passthru to linux virtual machine and run it from there with possible overhead of %15-20 performance loss maybe. (didnt try it, just brainstorming :-/ )

3) I have 2 option. FreeBSD and Linux. and I really want to do it with freebsd somehow.

other option is linux (arch linux).

4) Do you have any recommendations or anyone with experience or anyone with the same "interested" issue of gpu/gpgpu & computing @ freebsd can comment, I would really appreciate it.

5) thank you

by GPU, gpu(s) supported by amd rocm (current and legacy supported gpus) (from rx 580 to vega64 to 9070 xt series and instinct series)
