Solved FreeBSD 14.2, KDE no taskbar, no background menu, no plasmashell?

Hi,

my FreeBSD installation seems to be a bit ... messed up wrt KDE. $subject states the bare bones of the issue, some other symptoms:
- I can´t set up external display properly. Since I normally use the external monitor when at my desk and keep the laptop lid closed, an external blank screen is confusing (when in fact the builtin screen is looking fine ... again, except for missing taskbar).
- an attempt to manually start plasmashell is met with this error:
'starting invalid corona "org.kde.plasma.desktop"'
I quite possibly brought this upon myself when I performed experiments with other DEs and/or DMs ...

Be that as it may, short of complete de- and reinstallation, any ideas how what data to collect to understand the issue, or how to address it?

TIA
Michael

to reply to myself:
This was not user-specific, a specifically created new user with "blank" configuration saw exactly the same.
I bit the bullet, temporarily switched to lxqt (also quite neat, btw), completely uninstalled kde (I believe I had a mixture of kde5 and kde6) and re-installed it. Now I'm back in business.
