Freebsd 14.1 Release p6 is out

P6 fixed a couple of userland issues. The version of the kernel is baked in at compile time and because it hasn't been updated it should still show the 'old' version. If you (re)build the kernel it will show the 'new' version, but there will be no functional changes, it's merely cosmetic.

upgrade the following machines without any issues

macbook air 2011 - 11 inch
macbook pro retina 2015 - 13 inch
dell xps 15 2019 - 15 inch

i had to dump all the smc settings for the macbook air
and create a new asmc entry for the keyboard backlight and then build a custom kernel

i submitted a patch for the macbook air 2011 asmc settings
and was amazed when i did an upgrade and found the patch had been accepted and added to asmc.c

so i dont have to build a custom kernel for the macbook air anymore

asmc.c

Code:
{
 "MacBookAir4,1", "Apple SMC Macbook Air 11-inch (Mid 2011)",
 ASMC_SMS_FUNCS_DISABLED,
 ASMC_FAN_FUNCS2,
 ASMC_LIGHT_FUNCS,
 ASMC_MBA4_TEMPS, ASMC_MBA4_TEMPNAMES, ASMC_MBA4_TEMPDESCS
},

everything works perfectly on the mac
except the wifi because it uses a broadcom chip

so i use an external alfa wifi card
