Solved FreeBSD 11.2 chroot to Trident (based on FreeBSD 12 current) possible?

I screw up my package management on Trident Beta 3 (a TrueOS fork) so I don't get a display manager and also no text console after boot. I also have FreeBSD 11.2 installed and thought that I could fix this problem using a chroot from FreeBSD to Trident. So I imported "tank" to /mnt and tried a chroot to /mnt

chroot /mnt /usr/bin/bash

and got a "wrong exec format" error. Are the binaries of FreeBSD 11.2 and 12 incompatible?

Discussion of Trident, and any other operating system, is off topic here, and it will be suggested to you to ask on their forum, even though it is based on FreeBSD for the very reason of the issue you describe.

Yes, binaries are compatible between versions of FreeBSD.
