First time ever FreeBSD install

Hello there guys, how are you all doing?

I wanted to try freebsd since I have never tried it in my life.

Does it not support ventoy? It gets stuck seems like it cant find the media after it loads the kernel.

Thanks guys.

Be sure you have the last version of ventoy and use preferably the latest RELEASE version of FreeBSD (15.1-RELEASE).

There are from time to time, some incompatibilities with ventoy. I don't know if it is your case.
You can always try a dedicated USB key if this doesn't help you.

I use Ventoy as recovery disk. It works excelent with FreeBSD image.
You have to copy FreeBSD RELEASE iso image into Ventoy disk, reboot from it and choose this image to start installation.

Why you mention kernel load? When you choose FreeBSD image, you will see how the FreeBSD loader starts and shows the loader menu (1. Install ... etc). It will load kernal and start install program after that.

Be careful with disk. If you choose automatic partitioning, installator takes whole disk space for FreeBSD partitions.

Thanks guys, the community seems so be really kind here. I found a 16 GB usb stick and I just used balena etcher on it and it worked first try (but I did have to disable the discrete graphics card in the bios).

I will start messing with BSD I want to port my Discord clone ECHO App to BSD. I wanna see the little Red Devil Sign on the members list :D
But I am starting from absolute zero lol. Never ever touched BSD until yesterday!

I am going to read up a bit on it. Yesterday my wifi card wasnt detected so like. I gotta get started on it hopefully I can contribute to the project as well
